From
May 2004 to June 2007 he was in charge of the unit “Autopromozione
sociale”, part of the Department active on suburbs.
He was
responsible for local development and incentives to small and micro
firms, with about 72 million Euro managed in five years.
Main
tasks of the office were:

funding new small businesses (about 800 micro-firms were financed,
tutored and monitored for 5 years each);

managing five business incubators (for multimedia, for opens
source/free software firms, for social enterprises);

carrying on two urban centres for consulting and first assistance to
citizens interested in creating and developing a business;

acting through six local points for urban development (social and
cultural action);

facilitating access to credit for micro-firms, by the constitution of
guarantee-funds and agreements with local banks;
-
setting-up and affirming a centre for prevention from usury and a
centre for the promotion of social responsibility among small firms.
"Autopromozione
sociale" won the 2006 edition of the European Enterprise Award
promoted by the European Commission.
